Shivam Mavi is an Indian professional cricketer. He was born into the Gurjar family on November 26, 1998. He was named in India’s squad for the 2018 under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2017. He was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 IPL auction for whom he made his Twenty20 debut.

In 2018 he also made his List A debut for India A against South Africa A in the Quadrangular Series. Mavi took a hat-trick on the opening day of the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy in September 2018 for Uttar Pradesh against Saurashtra.

He began his career at a young age when he was chosen to play for the Delhi Under-14 team. Despite playing well for the U14 team, he was rejected for the Under-16 squad.

Mavi took the rejection in stride and relocated to Greater Noida, where he joined the Delhi Wanderers Cricket Academy. There, he was accompanied by senior players such as Anureet Singh and Parvinder Awana, which helped him improve his game.

Shivam Mavi caught the attention of head coach Rahul Dravid during the training in the National Cricket Academy camp. He made his Under-19 debut for the national side in 2017 playing against England in the 4th ODI of the latter’s tour in India. The right-handed pace bowler managed to take two wickets in five overs while giving 36 runs. Later he was selected for the under-19 team that was scheduled to leave for New Zealand to join the 2018 under-19 World cup.

New Zealand’s green, the bouncy pitch became the ideal foil for Mavi and his sharp pace. Mavi was at the center of India’s fatal pace bowlers, which lit up the World Cup with some furious bowling. Mavi, along with Kamlesh Nagarkoti, helped run through the Australian batting order in the first game of the tournament, and helped cement himself as the tournament’s opening bowler for the rest of the tournament, picking up 9 wickets with good numbers an average of 18.88 and an economy of 4.12.

He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction 2022.
