Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, thanked the soldiers for their service and urged the nation to light a diya as a salute to them, reported ANI.
PM Modi said, “This Diwali, let us also light a Diya as a #Salute2Soldiers who fearlessly protect our nation.”
He added, “Words can’t do justice to the sense of gratitude we’ve for our soldiers for their exemplary courage. We’re also grateful to families of those on the borders.”

Earlier today, three security forces personnel were killed in multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) from Gurez sector to Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Although it is not confirmed whether PM Modi referred to Friday’s incidents, his comments come at a time of border tension with Pakistan.
Three civilians were also killed in the ceasefire violations. On the other hand, ANI reported that t 7-8 Pakistani Army soldiers were killed in retaliatory firings.
