Yogurt’s everywhere – it has a special and permanent seat in every fridge, it’s used to marinade almost everything, you can find it as an accompaniment with every spicy Indian food, and is also a good way to hydrate and naturally bleach your skin. That’s not all, yogurt is an excellent pro-biotic and has a cooling effect on the body and helps with digestion. 

There are times when your body needs a break from all the oily and junk food that we consume or you just want to be healthy. In those situations what better option can there be than yogurt-based drinks.

So, if you are in a mood for some quick and easy drinks, count on these lip-smacking yogurt recipes.

Smoked/Dhungaar Chaas by Chef Ranveer Brar

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Curd 1 cup

Water 2 cups

Mint leaves 3-4

Coriander leaves Few sprigs

Roasted cumin powder 1 teaspoon

Ginger, chopped 1 teaspoon

Black Salt ¼ teaspoon

Salt to taste

For tempering

Oil 2 teaspoon

Cumin seeds ½ teaspoon

Green chili paste ½ teaspoon

For smoke

Coal piece 1

Few curry leaves

Cloves 2

Oil 1 teaspoon

Method

  1. Combine curd, coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger, cumin powder, black salt, salt and blend well. 
  2. Add water and mix well.
  3. In a pan, heat oil, add green chili paste and cumin seed. 
  4. Saute for a few seconds; add to chaas and mix well.
  5. Pour the chaas in a large bowl. 
  6. Take heated coal in a small bowl and keep the bowl inside the large bowl.
  7. Add cloves and curry leaves to the smaller bowl. Now add oil over hot coal
  8. Cover with aluminum foil.
  9. Let it sit for five minutes; remove and serve in glasses.

Gulkand Lassi and Masala Ginger Lassi by chef Sanjeev Kapoor

Ingredients

Yogurt 3 cups

Rose syrup 2 tablespoons

Green cardamom powder ½ teaspoon

Powdered sugar 1 tablespoon

Gulkand 2 tablespoon

Rose essence Few drops

Ice cubes 5-6

Malai for garnish 1 teaspoon

Pistachios 1 teaspoon

Method

  1. Add yogurt, green cardamom powder, rose syrup, powdered sugar, rose essence, gulkand, and ice cubes; blend well. Pour in a tall glass and add malai.
  2. Use rose syrup, pistachios, and rose petals to garnish.

Masala Ginger Lassi

Ingredients 

Hung yogurt ½ cup

Yogurt 1 cup

Green chilly broken 1

Coriander leaves Few sprigs

Few fresh mint leaves

Ginger, grated ½ inch

Powdered sugar 1-2 tablespoon

Roasted cumin powder ½ teaspoon

Black salt ½ teaspoon

Chaat masala1 teaspoon

Milk 1 cup

Ice cubes as required

Method

  1. Add hung curd, yogurt, coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilly, grated ginger, sugar, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, milk and ice cubes in a blender until smooth
  2. Pour in a tall glass. Sprinkle roasted cumin, chaat masala. You can garnish with a mint sprig.
