If “Shut up and take my money” is your favourite reaction on seeing a cheesy delicious burger, this one is for you. Chef Robbert Jan de Veen of De Daltons diner in Voorthuizen, Netherlands, has whipped up the world’s most expensive burger and put an insane tag on it. The chef is selling the burger for a whopping price of 5,000 euros, which is approximately Rs 4.5 lakh.
The burger called ‘The Golden Boy’ is as pricey as its name and comprises ingredients that are expensive and rare. According to the official website of the diner, it involves the use of ingredients like Beluga caviar, king crab, Spanish Paleta Iberico, white truffle, and English cheddar cheese.
While, the barbeque sauce spread on the patty is made with Kopi Luwak, which happens to be one of the costliest coffee beans in the world, the bun is made out of Dom Pérignon champagne dough and crowned with a gold leaf. Well, going by its ingredients, it sure looks like a golden boy, doesn’t it?
Chef Robbert Jan de Veen shared an interesting image of the burger on his Instagram and left the Netizens in awe of the same.
As per the reports of The National, the burger was sold to the Netherlands-based business conglomerate Remia International and later eaten by the chairman of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association, Rober Willemse. The Chef ended up using the amount received after the sale of the burger to donate to an NGO.
In a statement to The National, Chef Robert Jan de Veen said, “Restaurants were closed and there were no food competitions due to the pandemic. Though our food takeaway service was on, I was depressed. I was feeling bad seeing the sufferings of the masses and the dismal situation of the restaurant industry.”
