The weekend
is here and it brings with it an action-packed roster of sports events. We have a Super Saturday in the Premier League, with Manchester City hosting Arsenal
for the weekend’s opening fixture, before Chelsea travel to Liverpool for a
heavyweight clash at Anfield. But the headline act this weekend is Lionel Messi’s
much-awaited debut in a Paris Saint-Germain shirt.

However, this
weekend has a lot to offer other than just football fans. Here is a look at the
top sports events for this weekend:

Cricket:

India are
in big trouble in the ongoing third Test vs England at the Headingley Cricket Ground
in Leeds, where the visitors have to first negotiate a 354 run first-innings lead
before setting a target for the hosts. Captain Joe Root scored his 23rd
Test century at his home ground and the entire top-order clicked as England were
bowled out for 432 runs.

Football:

As mentioned
before, Arsenal will look to get
their first win of the season as
they take on champions City in their own turf. The Gunners can take hope from
the fact they will have star strikers Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander
Lacazette back. Chelsea and Liverpool are already look like title favourites
after a perfect start to the season and Saturday’s clash at Anfield will go a
long way towards boosting morale.

Meanwhile, Lionel
Messi will make his long-awaited PSG debut, as the French giants travel to Reims
in the Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Formula One:

Formula One
action action returns this weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix at the
Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Stavelot on Sunday. Lewis Hamilton is on top of
the driver’s standings with 195 wins and four wins. Max Verstappen is close on
his heels, having won five races with 187 points.

Paralympics:

The ongoing
Tokyo Paralympics will have medal events for archery, cycling, powerlifting,
swimming, table tennis, discus throw, shot put, triathlon and many other
events.
