In a stunning development, Borussia Dortmund conceded three goals in the final minutes of the game, giving up their 2-0 lead, to lose 2-3. The loss to Werder Bremen ended their winning streak in Westfalenstadion, Dortmund’s home stadium. It was the first time that a club scored 3 Bundesliga goals from as late as the 89th minute.

Earlier in the match, the Blacks-and-Yellow had a bad first half. When in possession, Edin Terzic’s team was sloppy, and their forward movement was laborious. But at the start of the second half, they received a fortunate break. Dortmund’s Julian Brandt blasted a blinder past Werder goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka in first-half stoppage time to take an unexpected lead.

Werder had a larger share of possession and a better pass percentage. Still Dortmund scored again after Raphael Guerreiro tried his luck from 25 metres away and beat Pavlenka with a low shot in the 77th minute, catching him off guard.

As the game neared its end, it seemed as though Borussia Dortmund would maintain their strong start to the season. However, three goals in only seven minutes from Werder Bremen ruined their party. However, the visitors did not give up and in the 89th minute, Lee Buchanan, a subsitution, scored what could have been a consolation goal with a beautiful strike into the top corner.
