Teenage Indian wrestling sensation Deepak Nehra made headlines when he won the bronze medal in men’s freestyle 97kg wrestling in the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Saturday, August 6. He defeated Tayab Raza of Pakistan to claim the honour and became the 12th Indian wrestler to win a medal at the ongoing edition of the mega event.
Wrestling has already become the most successful discipline for India at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022, after all of its 12 participants managed to finish on the podium. Nehra also became the fifth Indian wrestler to win a bronze at the CWG 2022, after Mohit Grewal, Divya Kakran, Pooja Gehlot and Pooja Sihag.
