The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on Sunday announced that Jon Huber, known to the WWE fans as Luke Harper, died at the age of 41. Huber, who also went by the name of Brodie Lee in the ring, had a ‘soft-spoken yet imposing’ presence that helped him create countless awe-inspiring moments in the ring.
“After a highly decorated run on the independent circuit, Harper debuted in NXT as a menacing enforcer for The Wyatt Family. Harper had a dominant tag team run with Rowan that would lay the groundwork for future championship success,” the WWE said in a statement.
Following the news of his death, WWE superstars and commentators alike took to Twitter and paid tribute to Harper.
A member of the Wyatt Family, which was led by Bray Wyatt, he often traded barbs with Kane, Daniel Bryan, The Shield, John Cena and the Usos and gave them a run for their money.
Known for his brute strength, Harper had defeated Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship. Later in his career, Harper and Eric Rowan joined hands to be called ‘The Bludgeon Brothers’ and terrorised the whole roster with their sneak attacks and often headlined SmackDown.
The Bludgeon Brother won the SmackDown Tag Team Title at WrestleMania 34.
