After Jasprit Bumrah‘s powerplay spell that reduced England to a measly 30/5 after 10 overs, India skittled the hosts for 110 all out. With this Jos Buttler and co now have recorded their lowest ever ODI total against India. Their previous worst was 125 they scored in Jaipur in the 2006 Champions Trophy.

This comes after Bumrah recorded his career-best figures of 6/19 vs the reigning World Champions, which are also the best figures by an Indian pacer in England. He also now has the 4th best ODI figures by a bowler in England after Waqar Younis(7/36 ), Winston Davis(7/51) and Gary Gilmour(6/14). This is also the first instance when Indian seamers took all 10 wickets bowling first.
Such was their dismal performance that six of the top batters for England were dismissed for a total of four ducks. Jos Buttler attempted to hold one end up but was out for 30, necessitating a 35-run ninth wicket stand to save them from total collapse. Up until that point, 86, their previous lowest-ever ODI score, appeared to be in danger of being surpassed, but India will believe they can chase down 110, no matter the circumstances.

Indian bowlers have been able to swing the white ball both ways. Bhuvneshwar Kumar successfully tormented the English lineup in the T20I series, which India won 2-1, and Bumrah managed to strike at crucial moments in the first ODI.
