West Ham’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday did not go down well with the travelling fans and the Greater Manchester Police have said that four Hammers fans have been arrested following clashes with the police after the match.
According to information provided by the police, a 33-year-old man was arrested for assaulting an emergency worker in the aftermath of West Ham’s loss to United. Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of throwing projectiles, and another 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing public order.

The Greater Manchester Police have also said that two more men have been “detained” and will be summoned “at a later date for football-related offences.”
West Ham’s match against United took place at Old Trafford, and as per ticket sales figures, 3,173 Hammers fans travelled from London to witness what turned out to be an exhilarating game.
While West Ham were certainly good in patches throughout the match, United’s patience paid off in the end and the Red Devils emerged the victor in stoppage time courtesy of a goal by English striker Marcus Rashford, who came off the bench to snatch the game from the Hammers.
The win helped United leapfrog their opponents to enter the top four of the Premier League, a feat that had eluded the Red Devils for much of the season.

Understandably, United interim manager Ralf Rangnick was delighted with the win and told the press after the game, “The atmosphere [in the dressing room] is amazing. Quite rightly, the boys were celebrating. They know what a massive win this was. This was an extremely emotional game and an extremely emotional moment.”
The German also praised the United fans for helping his team achieve victory in the difficult contest, saying, “Thank you to the [fans] – the way they supported the team all through the game, they pushed us and carried us through the game. It was amazing. Since I arrived, it was by far the best atmosphere in the stadium.”
