The Indian cricket team
was on cloud nine due to their historic win at Gabba last month, that helped
them retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the third consecutive time.

Celebrations refuse to stop for the team as the official page of the Indian
Cricket Team crossed 16 million followers on the social networking site,
Instagram, making them one of the most followed sports teams on Instagram. They
even surpassed the number of followers of Los Angeles Lakers, currently standing at 15.9
million.

The Indian team took to
Instagram expressing their gratitude to the fans for their never-ending love
and support for the team as well as the sport.

The Indian Women’s cricket team is also gaining popularity, especially after the
team made it to the finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020.

The Indian Cricket Team has
also surpassed the followers of the England Cricket Team, standing at 1.6
million followers, and the Australian Cricket Team at 916K followers.

While Indian Cricket Team
celebrates its social media milestone, football teams worldwide have achieved a
gold mine on social media.

Real Madrid has a following of a whopping 95.2
million people on Instagram.  Following
the lead is FC Barcelona, with 93.4 million followers and Manchester United
with 39 million followers.
