Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed suffered a chest injury during a game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football. Reed had an impressive first half, catching six passes for 89 yards and scoring two touchdowns, contributing significantly to the Packers’ 23-3 halftime lead. However, during his second touchdown, Reed had to break through tackles, which seemingly aggravated his existing chest injury.
Reed has been dealing with this chest injury since a game against the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks prior. He was limited in practice but still managed to play effectively against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

Despite this, he did not return to the field in the second half against the Vikings and was eventually ruled out for the rest of the match. The Packers have been cautious with Reed, likely wanting to preserve him for upcoming challenges.
Despite leaving the game, Reed’s performance was historic. He broke Sterling Sharpe’s rookie reception record with the Packers and became just the third Packers rookie to score at least 10 touchdowns in a season. His contribution to the team’s offense has been significant, and his availability for upcoming games is crucial for the Packers.

Reed himself, in the days following the injury, stated that he didn’t expect the injury to affect his availability for the next game, indicating a positive outlook for his recovery. This sentiment was echoed in the locker room where he mentioned not aggravating the injury further, offering hope for his participation in the Packers’ subsequent games.
