NBA side Memphis Grizzlies on Monday rose above opponents
Utah Jazz, securing their first win in round one of the playoff series. Jazz,
first seed in Western Conference, were defeated 109-112 by the eighth seeded Grizzlies.
Despite taking a 24-17 lead in the first quarter of the
match, the Utah-based side could not capitalise on their gains, as the
Grizzlies recovered lost ground by winning the second quarter 19-32.

For Jazz, Bojan Bogdanovic top-scored with 29 points, whereas
Mike Conley Jr scored 22, with six rebounds and 11 assists.
For Grizzlies, on the other hand, Dillon Brooks scored a
solid 31 points with seven rebounds and two assists. This also meant Brooks setting
a new scoring record for a club player making playoff debut since former
Grizzlies Centre Marc Gasol scored 24 points against San Antonio Spurs in 2011.

Point Guard Ja Morant also assisted the total score
significantly, contributing 26 points. Jonas Valanciunas, too, hit 15 points
and 12 rebounds.
The match was the first among a total of seven to be played
between the two sides as part of the playoff series. The team winning four out
of seven games moves on to the next round.
