Tottenham
Hotspur shored up their quest for a Champions League berth with a 5-0 home win against
relegation-threatened Everton on Monday.

A Harry
Kane brace, goals from Son Heung-min and Sergio Reguilon and a Michael Keane
own goal sealed a damaging third consecutive loss for the Toffees since Frank
Lampard’s appointment as manager on January 31.

The Merseyside
club, who have won just once in their last 10 games since beating Arsenal in
early December, are just one point off Burnley in 18th, although
they have one game in hand over Sean Dyche’s side.

Everton
will have to maximise their return from the next two Premier League fixtures –
against Newcastle and Watford – if they are to avoid a first relegation since 1952
as they face West Ham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester City
in the five following games.

Meanwhile, the
win takes Spurs level on points with West Ham in sixth, having played two games
fewer than their London rivals. They also have two-games in hand and are two
points off Manchester United in fifth.

Keane set the tone for an embarrasing night by firing Ryan Sessegnon’s cross into his own net in the 14th minute before Son doubled the lead three minutes later although England goalkeeper should have done better to keep it out.

Kane put the result beyond doubt in the 35th minute after being put through on goal by Matt Doherty and substitute Reguilon scored to pile further misery on Everton right after the break.   

Kane put the icing on the cake with a well-time volley off his left foot to dispatch Doherty’s cross beyond Pickford in the 55th minute, scoring his 176th Premier League goal in the process.

The Englishman has surpassed Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s tally and is just one behind former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard.
