Even after dominating possession for most parts of the game, Brighton & Hove Albion failed to penetrate the Arsenal defence as both teams settled for a 0-0 draw on Saturday in the Premier League.

After opening with three straight losses, Arsenal were seeking a fourth victory on the bounce and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang headed against the outside of a post with one of the Gunners’ best chances.

Emile Smith Rowe too forced a low save out of Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in the second half after a well-worked move that started in Arsenal’s own half.

Meanwhile, Brighton, who would have moved level on points with first-place Chelsea with a win, edged a rain-soaked encounter at the Amex Stadium but managed just two attempts on target as Leandro Trossard, Dan Burn and Neal Maupay failed to capitalise on decent openings.

In the first half itself, Brighton had eight shots and enjoyed 61% of the possession. However, failed to land even a single shot on target while Arsenal managed to sneak out four shots without troubling Seagulls goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Bukayo Saka hobbled off late in the game for Arsenal with an apparent muscle injury in his right leg.

Ahead of the game, Arsenal had only one injury concern in Granit Xhaka, who has now been ruled out for three months with a knee ailment.

Brighton was fifth with 14 points from seven games, with Arsenal four places and as many points further back.

Earlier in the day, forward Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell struck goals in the 84th and 89th minute respectively to earn three points for Chelsea, taking them on top of the Premier League table. The Blues defeated a 10-man Southampton 3-1 at the Stamford Bridge.
