In an official
statement the Spanish giants wrote, “FC
Barcelona hereby announces that Sergi Barjuan, the current coach of Barça B,
shall be taking provisional charge of the technical management of the senior
squad. His interim position as first team head coach shall end as soon as the
club has hired full-time head coach to replace the dismissed Ronald Koeman.”

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, shall be officially introducing Sergi

Lastly, “Sergi Barjuan will be attending to the
media tomorrow Thursday from 1.00pm CEST in the pressroom at the Ciutat
Esportiva to discuss the game against Alavés, with president Joan Laporta also
appearing.”

The side led by Gerard
Pique
are going through a horrible season as they sit on the ninth spot in the
La Liga table. On top of that they are in danger of not qualifying for the next
round of the UEFA Champions League as they sit behind Bayern Munich and Benfica
in the Group table.

They are yet to win an
away fixture this season and have won just 2 of their last 5 league games,
having lost the other three. Their next fixture is against Alaves on October
31.

Barcelona have been
spiraling downwards ever since the departure of Lionel Messi and while it was
expected to see them struggling this season, Ronald Koeman was expected to do a
lot better with a young and talented squad at his disposal.
