Kylian Mbappe did the near-impossible as he scored twice in quick succession to equalise the score in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final vs Argentina. While one of his goals came via a penalty, the other was struck neatly in open play into the back of the Argentine goal.

Social media is abuzz with praises for the 23-year-old who gave his countrymen a chance to dream again after all hopes of France retaining the cup were lost.

The France striker has beaten Lionel Messi to win the Golden Boot after finishing the tournament with eight goals. The race for the Golden Boot at the World Cup 2022 took several twists and turns in a thrilling final on Sunday and ended with Mbappe finishing top of the pile.

The striker struck a hat-trick against Argentina to take his tally for the tournament to eight. Mbappe beats PSG team-mate, Messi, to the prize. The Argentina captain scored two goals in the final to finish on seven goals in Qatar.

France were reeling 0-2 after half-time when Mbappe burst into the scene, bringing the defending champions back into the game.

The Golden Boot will be only a consolation prize to Mbappe as France were defeated on penalties by Argentina. An exciting game ended 3-3 after extra time with the Albiceleste winning the shootout 4-2.

Mbappe is the only second footballer to score a hat-trick in the World Cup final, after Geoff Hurst, with England against Germany in 1966. The striker will reunite with Messi when he will return to club side PSG.
