Star batter Suryakumar Yadav
and pacer Deepak Chahar have been ruled out of India’s three-match Twenty 20
International (T20I) series against Sri Lanka, starting February 24 in Lucknow,
due to injuries. When Chahar suffered a right quadriceps injury while bowling
against West Indies in the ODI series, swashbuckling batter Suryakumar Yadav sustained
a hairline fracture while trying to field in the third and final T20I against
West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday.

“They will now head to
the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their
injuries,” stated an official release from the BCCI.
In the recently concluded
limited-overs series against West Indies, hosts India registered sweeping
victories without conceding a game. The Indian team under the leadership of
Rohit Sharma and the coaching of Rahul Dravid will look to carry their momentum
into the three-match T20I series and two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

While the first T20I will be
played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in
Lucknow, the second and third T20I will be played at Himachal Pradesh Cricket
Association Stadium, Dharamsala. The first Test will be played in Mohali while
the second Test will be hosted by M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

India, meanwhile, gave Virat
Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur breaks from the bio bubble while Sanju
Samson and Ravindra Jadeja have been recalled into the Indian team. This series
against Sri Lanka will give the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer
chances to prove their mettle as batters.

In the T20I series against
West Indies, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer played vital roles. While
Suryakumar scored 65 off 31 balls, Venkatesh scored 35 off 19 balls in the third T20I.
