Georgia Bulldogs mourn the passing of Uga X, known affectionately as Que, who left an indelible mark with historic victories.
The University of Georgia Athletics announced the peaceful passing of Uga X, lovingly called Que, the beloved mascot of the Georgia Bulldogs football team. In a statement released via social media, the athletics department expressed their sorrow: “We are saddened to announce that Uga X, fondly known as Que, died peacefully in his sleep earlier this morning.” Que, having compiled a remarkable football record of 91-18, played a pivotal role in the Bulldogs’ triumphs, overseeing two SEC titles, the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff national championships, and seven New Year’s Six bowl appearances.
Que’s legacy is unparalleled, earning him the title of the most decorated among all Bulldogs mascots. His retirement marked the conclusion of an era filled with athletic achievements and milestones for the Georgia Bulldogs.
During his tenure, Que became synonymous with success, witnessing the football program’s ascent to historic heights. As the team’s most successful mascot, Que’s contribution to the Bulldogs’ legacy remains immeasurable. The announcement reflects on Que’s iconic presence: “He will always be remembered as a Damn Good Dawg.”
The story of how Que ascended to the role of team mascot adds a sentimental touch. After Uga IX’s retirement in 2014, Que, the grandson of Uga IX, emerged as the rightful successor following a three-month audition. The official collaring ceremony on Nov. 21, 2015, marked the beginning of Que’s remarkable journey as Georgia’s beloved mascot.
As Georgia mourns the loss of Que, the football program and its fans will forever cherish the memories of a mascot whose legacy extends beyond the field, symbolizing an era of triumphs and excellence.
