Chris Haynes, an NBA insider, has buzzed the internet after he claimed that “the Wizards are likely to reroute Chris Paul in a trade, and the Los Angeles Clippers are expected to pursue a reunion with the future Hall of Famer.”
Chris Paul’s decision to depart the Washington Wizards would be in line with his goal to play for an NBA title rather than be a part of a team that is completely rebuilding. Paul, who is 38 years old, might choose to leave a team that is going through a rebuild in favor of joining one that has a better chance of winning a championship.

The decision by Paul to redirect to the Clippers could result in a win-win scenario for Paul and each of the involved teams. Chris Paul would have the chance to start at point guard for a team with championship hopes if he were to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Washington Wizards would also gain from removing Paul’s large contract from their books for the upcoming season.
As of now, there is a lot of math involved in this highly anticipated trade. The Washington Wizards may decide to waive Chris Paul if they are unable to locate a trade partner willing to pay his entire salary. Paul would join another team, but the Wizards would still owe them $25 million as a result of this. This payment is required to reach the salary-matching requirement for the Bradley Beal deal.

As reported by The Athletic, things might turn bad for the Wizards if they decided to keep Chris Paul on their roster against his preferences. Paul’s displeasure with the group could create a hostile environment and have an adverse effect on team dynamics.
