Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray announced their separation in an interview with The New York Times.

The couple is going through a trial separation but intends to stay in their Park Slope, Brooklyn, townhouse. They will, in reality, date other people while living in the house where they raised their two children together. In the interview, de Blasio, 62, and McCray, 68, spoke candidly about their friendship over the years. They disclosed that de Blasio’s tenure as mayor, which he held from 2014 to 2021, was a major factor in the breakdown of their marriage.
