A total of 10 rockets hit the military base in western Iraq hosting US led coalition troops on Wednesday, security sources confirmed. The incident has happened just two days before the historic visit of Pope Francis to the country.
The attack took place at 7.20 am (0420 GMT) at Ain al-Assad military airbase, coalition spokesperson Colonel Wayne Marotto said. The attack on the sprawling Ain al-Assad base in Iraq’s western desert is the fourth time in less than three weeks that rockets hit a Western installation in the country
A civil contractor died in the Iraq rocket attack, security sources confirmed after the attack.
