In the latest US shooting, two police deputies were shot near Boone, North Carolina as per media reports from the Sheriff’s office of Watauga County. A standoff with the shooting suspect is currently underway.
According to the statement, the shooter is barricaded inside the house where the shooting took place and occasionally shoots in the direction where police officers are placed. All nearby residents have been evacuated, reported CNN.

On Wednesday morning, the Watauga County’s sheriff office responded to a wellness check call, as per the statement, as the family neither responded to telephone calls nor showed up for work.
“Upon entering the home, deputies received gunfire from an unknown individual within the residence. Two deputies received gunshot wounds. One deputy was extracted from the location and has been flown to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment. The other deputy remains on the scene. The condition of the deputy on scene remains unknown at this time,” said the statement.

Boone Police Department earlier tweeted, “Boone Police is currently assisting the Watauga County Sherriff’s Office in the Brown’s Chapel Area of Watauga County with an ongoing stand-off.”
The tweet added, “no further information is available at this time.”
