A man was stabbed to death with multiple injuries on Friday at a grocery store in Illinois city of Berwyn while attempting to stop another man from physically assaulting a teenage girl, according to US media reports.
According to witness accounts reported by CBS, the brawl was triggered after the girl was visiting her mother, who was working as a cashier, at the store and the attacker believed that she was skipping the queue. Due to this, the unidentified attacker started throwing punches at the girl.

The stabbing victim, who was later described as a ‘good samaritan’ by the police, jumped into the middle of the assault to protect the girl and was later fatally stabbed multiple times on his upper body by the attacker, the police said.
The grocery store, where the incident unfolded, is located at 6323 W. Cermak Road in Berwyn.
The attacker then stabbed another man who tried to stop him while he attempted to flee the scene as multiple witnesses chased him. Police later arrested and detained the attacker.

One out of the two victims was declared dead after being rushed to a hospital while the second one reportedly suffered minor injuries, CBS reported on Friday.
