A shooting on Brookhill Drive in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Tuesday, led to the death of four people, Winston-Salem Police Department confirmed. According to reports, an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
The police arrived at the scene at around 11:54 pm local time after being told about a shooting inside a home. Upon inspection, they found the home to be secured and entered it forcefully.
Inside, they found 40-year-old Ethal Syretha Steele dead from what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Her three children aged 9, 12 and 14 were also found dead with gunshot wounds.
“This happened in my neighborhood. You don’t want to see this. You see this on the news, and…it is another neighborhood. For it to happen here in our neighborhood, is very concerning. It’s close to home,” Angela Terrill, a neighbor, told FOX 8.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
