As per the police, the incident took place at around 9:30 pm local time when a crowd converged at the intersection of California Avenue and Polk Street.

First responders reached the crime scene soon after receiving reports of the shooting incident and transported the victims to nearby hospitals. Some of the victims were critical when they were taken to the hospitals whereas the injuries to some others were non-life threatening.

“There may have also been others gathered for other various reasons,” he added. “It’s a very, you know, common corner where people congregate and have different meetings and gatherings,” the police superintendent continued.

Chicago Police have launched an investigation into the incident, however, are yet to arrest any suspect. As per Brown, the police are looking for the motive behind the shooting.
