Israel and United Arab Emirates reached a historic peace deal on Thursday, which is likely to normalise the relations between the two nations, reported AFP.

As per reports, the announcement of the peace agreement between the two countries was made by US President Donald Trump. 

The normalization of relations between the UAE and Israel is a “HUGE breakthrough” Trump tweeted, calling it a “Historic Peace Agreement between our two GREAT friends.”

Speaking to reporters later, Trump suggested more diplomatic breakthroughs between Israel and its Muslim neighbors in the region were expected.

“Things are happening that I can’t talk talk about,” he said.

Speaking on the deal, Israel PM Netanyahu said, normalisation with UAE a ‘historic day’.

According to reports, the three leaders Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed agreed over the deal over a phone call. Later, a joint statement issued by the three nations said that the deal will help in establishing peace in the Middle East.

“This historic diplomatic breakthrough will advance peace in the Middle East region and is a testament to the bold diplomacy and vision of the three leaders and the courage of the United Arab Emirates and Israel to chart a new path that will unlock the great potential in the region,” the statement said.

 “Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world,” the statement added further.

Reports said that Netanyahu had previously planned to annex parts of the Israeli occupied West Bank.
