Former US President Donald Trump has been found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up his sexual affair with former porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of his ascent to the White House in 2016. The charges in the New York hush-money case stem from 11 invoices, 12 vouchers, and 11 checks. Trump is the first US president to be declared a felon as he seeks a second term in the White House.

The jury unanimously found, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Trump not only participated in falsifying records but did so to commit or conceal another crime—specifically, violating state laws against conspiracy to influence an election through “unlawful means.”

These “unlawful means” included violations of the Federal Election Campaign Act, falsification of additional business records, and breaches of state and federal tax laws.
