The Highland Park shooting in Illinois on July 4 resulted in the death of at least seven people while dozens were left injured. Law enforcement officials on Tuesday announced the death of the seventh victim, who died in the hospital.
Robert Crimo, the suspect in the mass shooting, was detained by the police after a manhunt that stretched for hours. Meanwhile, America celebrated the Fourth of July.

The Lake County Coroner’s office has released the name of six deceased victims so far, which include a synagogue worker and an 88-year-old grandfather. Here is what we know so far about the Highland Park shooting victims:
Stephen Straus, 88
Straus, a Chicago financial adviser, was one of the first observers at the parade and attended it every year, his grandchildren said. Brothers Maxwell and Tobias Straus described their grandfather as a kind and active man who loved walking, biking and attending community events.
“The way he lived life, you’d think he was still middle-aged,” Maxwell Straus told news agency Associated Press in an interview. “It’s very just terrible”, he added while condemning the gun culture in the United States.
Jacquelyn Sundheim, 63
Jacquelyn Sundheim was regaled as a lifelong congregant and “beloved” staff member at North Shore Congregation Israel, where she had worked for decades, the Reform synagogue said on its website. Sundheim taught at the synagogue’s preschool and coordinated events including bar and bat mitzvah ceremonies.
Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza, 78
Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza was the only non-resident of Highland Park who was killed in the attack on July 4. He was reportedly visiting his family. According to a report from Chicago Times, Toledo-Zaragoza’s family wanted him to stay permanently because of injuries he had suffered after being hit by a car a couple of years ago.
The newspaper also reported that Toledo-Zaragoza was hit by three bullets, which killed him on the spot.
Katherine Goldstein, 64
Katherine Goldstein was a mother of two daughters in their early 20s, Cassie and Alana. She attended the parade with her older daughter so that Cassie could reunite with friends from high school, media reports suggest.
Katherine Goldstein’s husband described her as an easygoing travel companion who was always game to visit far-flung locales, according to reports from AP.

Irina McCarthy and Kevin McCarthy (35 and 37)
Irina and Kevin McCarthy were killed on Monday in the Highland Park shooting. They left behind their 2-year-old child Aiden McCarthy, whose photos were circulated on social media after the shooting and was then identified as a missing child.
“At two years old, Aiden is left in the unthinkable position; to grow up without his parents,” wrote Irina Colon on a GoFundMe account she created for the family and Aiden, who was reunited with his grandparents Monday evening, AP reported.
