Law enforcement officials from Cornwall and Devon were called to Biddick Drive located in the Keyham area of United Kingdom around 6 pm on Thursday after a shooting had been reported in the area.

The incident resulted in the death of six people, including one suspected gunman, according to reports from British media outlets citing police statements. Those who died due to the incident included three women and three men. However, the names of those who died have not been revealed so far.

While five people died at the site of the incident, one woman succumbed to her injuries on her way to the hospital. According to statements given by law enforcement officials, all of those who died are likely to have suffered gunshot wounds.

Johnny Mercer, who is a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom and a former member of the armed forces, wrote on Twitter that the incident was “non-terror related”.

However, police officials said that the necessary investigations are still being carried out by authorities but also emphasised that they were no longer looking for anyone else who could potentially be connected to the incident.

A statement released by the police authorities read, “The area has been cordoned off and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Investigations are continuing into the incident and disruption to the road network in the Keyham will remain throughout the night”, according to reports from BBC.

Preeti Patel, the Home Secretary of the United Kingdom, said that she was in touch with the Chief Constable in charge of investigating the shooting incident and further urged the public to maintain calm so that the police could do their work. She further added, “The incident in Plymouth is shocking and my thoughts are with those affected”, BBC reported.
