A 9-year-old girl in Minneapolis died on Thursday, 12 days after she was struck by a stray bullet while jumping on a trampoline at a friend’s birthday party.
Trinity Ottoson-Smith was with her friends on May 15 when she was shot in the head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition where she succumbed to injuries on Thursday. No one else sustained injuries in the incident.
“For the last 12 days, she fought for her life and today that fight ended. At 4:04 p.m., she was pronounced deceased at the hospital,” Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder said in a press conference.

Earlier this month, a 6-year-old girl, named Aniya Allen, died after a stray bullet struck her in the head while she was sitting in her family’s car.
