A woman in New Jersey fatally slit her four-year-old son’s throat and then called 911 to seek medical help for a wrist injury that she sustained while killing her son, said authorities. When the police arrived, the woman met them with blood on her hands, New York Post reports.

Elina Gutti, aged 36, killed the four-year-old and left his body in his bedroom on February 6, said police. She met police at 2:30 am with what they called “unexplained injuries on her wrist”. The police then searched the house, finding Gutti’s son, Aiden Singhania’s body, with severe lacerations to his throat, and two kitchen knives on the floor filled with blood. The four-year-old died around 3:15 am, said police, New York Post reports.

Gutti, at the time of the incident, resided in South Bound Brook, said police.

Quoting NJ.com, New York Posts reported that Gutti was emotionless when she spoke to the police after her son’s body was found, saying, “This is pretty serious”. The report further said, she told her husband that she was depressed. Gutti was charged on Thursday for first-degree murder and two counts of third-degree possession of a weapon, announced Somerset County Prosecutor, New York Post reports.
