A horrific shooting incident occurred in Homewood South on Sunday afternoon, as confirmed by police officials.
The incident claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman. The lady who was shot and murdered on Sunday afternoon has been identified as 21-year-old Pittsburgh resident Heaven Budd by the medical examiner’s office.
The Pittsburgh police are currently looking into the circumstances behind the woman’s unfortunate death, but no arrests have been made public as of yet.
The sound of gunfire close surprised artist Kyle Holbrook, who was in the middle of restoring an anti-gun violence artwork on Homewood Avenue. He saw a young person hurt and hurried to the ground from his ladder. Holbrook’s dedication to the cause of reducing gun violence was rekindled in spite of the catastrophe.
First responders rapidly arrived at the site near the East Busway station after receiving a call for assistance. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save the 21-year-old, and she was declared dead at the hospital.

The 2007 mural, “Peace Over Pittsburgh,” is being restored with funds from Pittsburgh Regional Transit. It is situated beneath the East Busway overpass.
Alongside Kyle Holbrook, original artists Ernest Bey and Frank Tilman Jr. underlined the importance of the mural and the strong community support for the arts.
Tilman emphasized the mural’s unifying message, calling on the neighborhood to unite in opposition to violence. He stressed the ability of harmony, peace, and togetherness to defeat hatred.
The identity of the suspect has not yet been made public by the authorities. The inquiry is still being conducted.
