A shooting incident occurred in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by police officials. The incident has claimed the lives of two individuals, as per WTAE reports.

Around three in the morning, neighbors in Pittsburgh’s Middle Hill neighborhood reported hearing gunshots close to Webster Avenue and Somers Street. Police responded to Webster Avenue after receiving a ShotSpotter alert suggesting 16 bullets had been fired.

One person was found on Somers Street with a gunshot wound to the chest during the investigation, however, he later died in the hospital of his wounds. While this was happening, a second victim, who had been shot in the head and died, was discovered on Webster Avenue.

Paramedics were on their way to the first victim on Somers Street when they came across the second victim on Webster Avenue, according to Cara Cruz, a spokesman for Pittsburgh Public Safety.

As per reports, 16-year-old Pittsburgh resident Cameron Blue-Gray died in the hospital after being taken there for treatment. In addition, Pittsburgh native Robert Lee Freeman Jr., 33, was pronounced dead on the spot.

Law enforcement has not yet disclosed information on what exactly happened to cause the shooting or whether the two victims were directly engaged.

According to Cara Cruz, “There was some initial information that there might have been a third person (involved somehow), but that’s still part of the investigation.”

No one has been taken into custody as of yet about the case.

Meanwhile, another shooting incident occurred in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The Holyoke Police Department has confirmed that the incident had several victims.

At around 1 p.m., police were sent to the downtown area in response to many cries for assistance and alerts from ShotSpotter, a system created to identify gunfire.

While the police are conducting their investigation, the public is being advised to stay away from the area by the authorities.
