A small plane crashed near Fort Pierce, Florida killing a person on Thursday, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO) said.

The crash occurred at 12:04 p.m. local time at the intersection of Sneer Road and Orange Avenue when the plane – four-seat Piper PA-28-161 – hit a building with an RV inside.

St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputies and St. Lucie County Fire District officials arrived to find two people inside the plane. One of them was transported to the hospital while the other died due to injuries sustained.

No one was inside the building when the plane crashed. However, the building sustained considerable damage, according to the video taken of the crash site. Rescue crews were at the scene. Local deputies will be staying behind on the scene to assist the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) which is leading the investigation.
