US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that he is ignorant of the report that accuses Postmaster General Louis DeJoy of reimbursing employees of his former company for political contributions. The President also said that DeJoy should be removed from the post if the allegations are true.
The Washington Post reported on Sunday that during his tenure as the CEO of New Breed Logistics, a North Carolina-based company, DeJoy had asked his employees to contribute to Republican candidates and even compensated them for doing so. Such straw donor schemes are considered illegal under federal and state law.

“I don’t know too much about it, I read something about it this morning,” President told reporters at a White House press briefing. He said that DeJoy is a very respected man.
“I think he’s a very honest guy, but we’ll see,” the President added.
Asked whether DeJoy should be removed if he is found to be guilty of violating the finance laws, Trump responded “Yeah, if something can be proven that he did something wrong, always.”
