A young woman in
her 20s died and 14 others were injured after several gunmen opened fire at a
busy bar in St. Paul Minnesota. St. Paul police chief Todd Axtel says that
people were suddenly caught in a “hellish situation”. Officers found a “chaotic
scene” when they arrived at the bar at around 12:15 am local time Sunday, the
St. Paul police said in a statement.

The shooting started
at the Seventh Street Truck Park and police said that several 911 callers “frantically
begged for help” moments after the attack.
The police
statement said that a woman in her 20s was pronounced death immediately and the
14 others injured were sent to area hospitals for treatment. They are all
expected to survive, the statement added. As per preliminary information, there
were several shooters at the scene although a motive is yet to be determined.

“My heart breaks
for the woman who was killed, her loved ones and everyone else who was in that bar
this morning,” police chief Axtell said adding that the St. Paul police have
the best investigators in the country, “and we won’t stop until we find people
responsible for this madness”.

Axtell further
said that he had spoken to the deceased’s family and they were absolutely
devastated. He further promised that he will bring justice in the case.
Saint Paul Mayor
Melvin Carter said, “As our Saint Paul officers work to bring those responsible
for these senseless acts into custody, our work to build more proactive and comprehensive
public safety strategies is more urgent than ever,” in a statement on Twitter. “We
will never accept violence in our community,” the mayor added.

Investigators are
yet to publicly announce the name of the victim. The Ramsey County Medical
Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy and release her name as well as cause
of death.
