Bloomington Police Department, in Illinois, is investigating a shooting that left a person injured, at Kenyon Court, on Friday night. 

As per a news release from the police department, officers heard gunfire around 7:34 PM. Shortly after that, they were sent to the area of Kenyon Court and found an injured person. Upon arrival, they learned the male had sustained a gunshot injury, and BPD noted that the victim had been transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. 

Authorities say there is no danger to the public but asked drivers to avoid the areas of Kenyon Court and Woodruff Drive since streets remained closed around the time.

The incident took place just west of Bloomington High School’s Fred Carlton Field, where a varsity football match between BHS and Normal West High School was slated to begin at 7 PM. 

Staffers saw heavy police presence in the area, which was visible from the football field. At present, the investigation is ongoing, and BPD noted that no arrests have been made yet.

A few days back, BPD investigated another shooting on August 29, where an adult male was found at Veterans Parkway and Empire Street. Authorities transported the individual to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The case was under investigation with the BPD noting that all involved individuals were in contact with the department but no arrests had been made. 

Earlier in August, local authorities apprehended the two individuals responsible for the Mall of America shooting, when they were spotted getting haircuts. 

Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said they’d been picked up during a traffic stop. The 21-year-old Shamar Lark and the 23-year-old Rashad May, the alleged shooters, were to be extradited to Minnesota, to face the charges for their actions.
