Lenoir City Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Walmart on Highway 321 a little after 8:00 p.m. This information was provided by representatives of the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.

No one was hurt, according to the authorities on the scene, but officers later discovered round shells inside the store, which proved that shots had been fired. Investigators say the early evidence suggests someone shot multiple times into the air in the clothing section in the store and not at someone.

According to Mayor Tony Aikens, the evidence revealed that someone fired into the air rather than at a person.

White said a suspect shot five rounds into the Walmart on Highway 321 on Tuesday around 7 p.m. Officers arrived at the location and evacuated the building. Officers are currently looking for the suspect involved in the incident.

Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information that could result in the arrest of the offender, who is not currently in custody.

After dispatch received the call, the officers arrived on the site after one minute. The shooter fled the scene and no arrests were immediately made.
