Speaker Nancy Pelosi is confident the Democratic Party-led House of
Representatives will decide the hotly-contested Presidential election in case
there are any disputes regarding the results.
The Democratic
Representative from California was speaking to NPR’s ‘All Things Considered’
podcast on Monday, where she was asked about the numerous possible outcomes which
can result in a stalemate, according to a post by the New York Post.

One of the
outcomes will see the House of Representatives decide the outcome of the
election in case a winner isn’t clear by January 6. Although it is a rare
case, the House will grant one vote to each state in order to pick a winner.
While Pelosi downplayed the chances of that possibility, she did admit that the lower house of Congress is prepared for the situation.
“We understand what the law is and the preeminence of the role of Congress and specifically the House of Representatives when it comes to counting the votes,” New York Post quoted Pelosi as saying.

“But let’s not worry about that right now. We’re ready. We’re prepared. We’ve been ready for a while because we see this irresponsibility of the president, his disrespect for the Constitution, for our democracy and for the integrity of our elections. So we’re ready for him,” she said.
She further stated that she was ready in her capacity as speaker to take on the responsibility in deciding the election.
Pelosi, the highest-ranking elected Democrat in the nation, said they want to be ready for the “big vote” on Tuesday, expressing confidence that Joe Biden will take oath as the President on January 20 with a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate.
“Our country is a great country. We’re even great enough to survive one term of Donald Trump. Two terms would be such a serious setback that I worry for our country,” she said.
