The January 6 committee issued 10 additional subpoenas to those in the inner circle of former United States President Donald Trump in an effort to expand its investigation of the storming of the Capitol Complex.
The investigative panel, which falls under the United States House of Representatives, has demanded testimony and documents from senior adviser Stephen Miller and Kayleigh McEnany, the Press Secretary, according to reports from Associated Press.
Earlier this week on Monday, half a dozen similar subpoenas were issued to those associated with the former President, who has claimed that the 2020 Presidential elections were rigged in favour of President Joe Biden.

Bennie Thompson, a lawmaker from Mississippi and a member of the Democratic party, said in a statement, “The Select Committee wants to learn every detail of what went on in the White House on January 6th and in the days beforehand”, according to reports from Associated Press.
Thompson, who was also picked as the chairman of the House investigative committee, added, “We need to know precisely what role the former president and his aides played in efforts to stop the counting of the electoral votes and if they were in touch with anyone outside the White House attempting to overturn the outcome of the election.”
Even though multiple allies of Trump have already been called to the stand by the January 6 committee, the possibility of the former President being subpoenaed remains unclear. Steve Bannon, a top aide of Trump, was held in contempt earlier this year after refusing to comply with similar summons.
The panel has said it wants to not only investigate the attack itself but its origins, namely the lies that Trump spread about massive voter fraud even though all 50 states had certified the election and courts across the country rejected his claims.
