An Orange County Superior Court judge has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife at their Anaheim Hills home, Eyewitness News has learned. Prosecutors say 47 weapons, 26,000 rounds of ammunition seized from home of California judge charged in wife’s killing.
Who is Judge Jeffrey Ferguson?
Jeffrey Malcolm Ferguson, 72, is accused of killing 65-year-old Sheryl Ferguson on the evening of Aug. 3. Authorities said the incident was reported at a home in the 8500 block of East Canyon Vista Drive shortly after 8 o’clock.

Sheryl Ferguson was wounded by at least one gunshot when officers arrived, according to the police. At the scene, she was pronounced deceased.
Without incident, Jeffrey Ferguson was taken into custody. He was arrested and released after posting $1 million bail.
Police executed a search warrant while conducting an investigation at the location and seized 47 firearms, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, along with more than 26,000 rounds of ammunition. The Orange County district attorney’s office reports that a .22 rifle that was legitimately registered to Ferguson is still missing.
Later, according to a criminal complaint, prosecutors charged him with one count of felony murder with the additions of personal use of a handgun and personal discharge of a firearm resulting in serious bodily injury or death.

According to the court record, Jeffrey Ferguson used a Glock .40 during the shooting and “threatened the victim earlier in the evening by making a hand gesture indicative of pointing a gun at her.”
Ferguson won reelection in March 2020 for the Superior Court judge post, which is an elective position in Orange County. He has held the position since 2015.
