Kevin Monahan?

Born in 1958, Kevin Monahan is a New York resident who is accused of second-degree murder of a 20- year- old named Kaylin Gillis.

On April 15, 2023, Kaylin Gillis travelled to New York State with three other people.

According to authorities, they unintentionally drove into Kevin Monahan’s driveway in the hamlet of Hebron. Monahan, 65, allegedly fired shots at the car as the driver was getting out, hitting Gillis.

“This is a very sad case of some young adults who were looking for a friend’s house and ended up at this man’s house who decided to come out with a firearm and discharge it. There’s clearly no threat from anyone in the vehicle,” Sheriff Murphy said. There’s no reason for Monahan to feel threatened,” Washington Country Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy stated as per BBC.

Due to the rural nature of the location, the driveways are dimly lit at night. Before he reportedly opened fire, none of the gang had gotten out of the car or made an attempt to go inside Monahan’s home, according to Murphy.

The companions attempted to contact for assistance in a neighboring town as they drove away from the residence, but paramedics declared Gillis dead.

The sheriff’s office stated in a news release that Monahan was “uncooperative with the investigation and refused to exit his residence to speak with police”.

Monahan reportedly refused to come out when police showed up at his home to look into the incident, according to Murphy. Before being brought into custody, according to the sheriff, authorities had an hour-long conversation with him via a 911 dispatcher and in person.

On the basis of a second-degree murder accusation, Monahan was lodged in the Warren County jail. It was unclear if he had a legal representative who could speak for him.
