The annual American hot dog eating competition is called the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Every year on July 4th, it takes place at Nathan’s Famous Corporation’s first and most well-known eatery, which is located at the intersection of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City.

Why was Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest for Men canceled?
The men’s division of the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest was postponed by the NYPD on Tuesday afternoon because of bad weather, according to the event’s host. # Around 12 o’clock, participants were removed from the stage as a result of rain and lightning.
Miki Sudo successfully defended her championship title by devouring 39 and a half hot dogs prior to the abrupt delay and cancellation.

“I’m very disappointed to tell you that after speaking to the NYPD, we have to dismiss the crowd and the competition is not going to happen. It’s too much of a lightning risk,” organizers said, per Ronny Reyes of the New York Post.
People on social media were extremely disappointed with this update, with one Twitter user funnily commenting, “Biggest tragedies in American history: 1. 2023 Nathans hot dog contest canceled. 2. 9/11. 3. Derrick rose injury,” while another one said, “If the Nathans Hot Dog Contest is actually canceled due to weather I’ll kill myself on live tv.”
