Google-owned YouTube on Tuesday (local time) removed a new video uploaded by the official account of US President Donald Trump and issued a strike for violating policies and inciting violence, reports Reuters.

“In light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to Donald J. Trump’s channel for violating our policies,” YouTube said in a statement.

The channel is now “temporarily prevented from uploading new content for a ‘minimum’ of 7 days,” the statement read.

Earlier on Tuesday, a #StopHateForProfit campaign by an activist group demanded YouTube remove the official account of Trump as the Republican president can still “continue spreading false information” about the November 3 elections.

The demand by activists came after major social media giants, Twitter and Facebook banned the official account of Trump over the violence at the US Capitol on January 6 by conservatives that killed five people, including a police officer.

An organiser of the campaign said they will go to the advertisers if YouTube does not agree with them and join other platforms in banning Trump.

Trump’s channel had almost 2.77 million subscribers and the home page of his channel features a month-old video, in which Trump cast doubt on the voting process. The video has over 5.8 million views.

The account of the outgoing President was indefinitely suspended following the attack on the US Capitol by pro-Trump supporters. The attack followed a video by Trump where he was seen urging his supporters to march to the Capitol to prevent the certification of President-elect Joe Biden, as the outgoing president falsely claims the elections were “rigged.”

Twitter, apart from deleting Trump’s personal account, has also suspended the official account of US President and Team Trump. Trump also faced suspension by Snapchat and Twitch.

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg, while announcing the suspension of the 74-year-old’s account last week, Trump used the platform to incite violence and was concerned he would continue to do so.
