An active shooter has been reported at Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington.
Authorities said the incident began around 10.30 am on Tuesday when officers were informed of an “active shooter” at the 2750E Building. The workers in the building were immediately evacuated.
“Active Assailant at 2750E in 200 East Area. Affected employees prepare to run hide fight. Employees in nearby buildings are to lockdown and prepare to run hide fight. All others stay away,” an alert to workers stated.
A spokesperson for the Hanford Site said in a statement, “Authorities are responding to a report of a possible active shooter in the 200 East area, which is near the center of the Hanford Site. Employees in nearby buildings are currently in lockdown.”
There was no immediate confirmation that shots had actually been fired.
“Affected employees and employees in the nearby buildings should continue to lockdown,” a statement from the Emergency Operation Center at the U.S. Department of Energy said.
