Former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds died at the age of 46 on Saturday after a single-vehicle auto accident near Townsville in northeast Australia. His death comes two months after the sudden demise of another Aussie cricket legend Shane Warne. Symonds’ last Instagram post was a tribute to Warne and his last Twitter post was a video with him.
“Devastated, I’m hoping this is all a bad dream I just can’t get my head around never seeing you again. Love to all the Warne family I’m speechless,” Symonds had written in the Instagram post, along with a few photos of him with Warne.
Queensland Police said Symonds’ accident occured at Hervey Range, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) from Townsville.
“Early information indicates, shortly after 11pm the car was being driven on Hervey Range Road, near Alice River Bridge when it left the roadway and rolled,” a police statement said. “Emergency services attempted to revive the 46-year-old driver and sole occupant. However, he died of his injuries.”

Symonds’ family confirmed the new and appealed for privacy.
Speaking to The Courier Mail, his wife Laura said, “We are still in shock – I’m just thinking of the two kids.”
“He was such a big person and there is just so much of him in his kids. He was the most laid back person. Nothing stressed him out. He was an extremely chilled operator. So practical. He was never good with his phone but he always had time for everyone.”
