Neymar has a welcome message for Argentinian star Lionel Messi as the latter closes in on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian, on his Instagram handle, posted a story for Messi and captioned it as “Back together.”

After his exit from FC Barcelona, Messi has chosen to embark on a new journey at Parc des Princes after 17 long years and 21 trophy-laden seasons at Camp Nou.

Due to FC Barcelona’s current financial difficulties, the 34-year-old footballer was unable to re-sign for the club. His departure was officially announced on Sunday.

With the exit, PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino quickly made contact and the club swooped in to give him a two-year deal. He will also be given an option of an extra season, as well.

Messi has reached Paris to undergo a medical test with the Ligue 1 giants. He has reportedly agreed to a €35m-per-year contract.

PSG has teased the six-time Ballon d’Or winner‘s inevitable arrival on their social media channels. Adding cherry to the cake, Neymar expressed the excitement of his former clubmate joining them at the Parc des Princes.

Neymar, who played with Messi at FC Barcelona for four years, moved to Paris for a world-record €222m (£188m/$260m) fee in 2017.

Neymar joined Barcelona from Santos in 2013 and quickly bonded with Messi on and off the pitch. Together at Camp Nou, the duo won two La Liga titles and the Champions Leagues among other stories.

They also helped the Blaugrana win the treble 2014-15 with Luis Suarez completing the club’s forward line.

Now, both Messi and Neymar look set to form two-thirds of another mouth-watering attacking trident – Messi-Neymar-Kylian Mbappe.

PSG will be hoping not only that Messi helps the team regain the French title it lost to Lille last season, but finally win the Champions League.

According to experts, if Pochettino uses a 4-3-3 formation, the front three could see Messi deployed on the right with Neymar on the left and Mbappe between them as the center forward.

However, the dilemma for Pochettino would be how to use Angel Di Maria, whose goal sealed the Copa America title last month, and another Argentine attacker — Mauro Icardi.
