A man’s proposal is interrupted by a Disneyland employee in a video that has gone viral on social media. The video shows the man falling down on one knee in front of one of the park’s renowned castles at Disneyland in Paris. As he unlocks the ring box, a staffer dashes over to the couple’s platform and grabs it. He then steps down from the raised platform and motions for the pair to exit, with both the guy and lady looking perplexed.
Many people have posted the footage online, with many criticising the employee’s disrespectful and heartless behaviour. “So @DisneyParis EN condones personnel being excessively condescending to guests?” questioned one tweeter, @LarryPotterxxx. Is it in the staff handbook that employees are allowed to assault customers and take engagement rings from their hands in the middle of a proposal? #DisneyProposal #DisneylandParis is absolutely insane.”
According to a Disney source who talked to Newsweek, “We are disappointed in how this was handled. We apologised and attempted to make things right with the couple involved.”
This isn’t the first time Disneyland Paris has come under fire on the internet. After two members of the theme park’s security personnel ordered a woman to cease nursing her infant in public, the theme park was obliged to apologise to her in 2021.
After being chastised on Twitter by France’s minister for citizenship, Marlene Schiappa, who was formerly minister for gender equality, Disneyland altered its tune, saying merely that women had access to specific rooms “with acceptable and pleasant material such as dedicated nursing chairs.” “Breastfeeding a baby is not a crime, @DisneylandParis. It’s great that you have designated areas, but no one can predict when or where a baby will get hungry “she penned.
