Former President Donald Trump spoke at a Michigan rally to support candidates for the Republican Party, where he addressed the situation in Afghanistan.
As per Newsweek, Trump said, “You have many citizens that the Taliban is holding. They didn’t get enough with the $85 billion dollars that the Taliban is holding. Maybe we ought to go in and take it back”, adding, “Dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Finest military equipment in the world they have, from the [night vision] goggles to the 700,000 machine guns”.

Trump also took the occasion to attack current President Joe Biden again. He said, “We’re living through the most dangerous generation of our lifetime, and we have a president who has no idea what’s going on. He has no idea what he’s doing and he has no idea what he’s saying”.
At the same time, the former president trumpeted his own relations with world leaders of Afghanistan, China, North Korea and Russia, saying that not a single person had been killed in Afghanistan for 18 months.

This is not the first instance when Trump has praised his own presidency. Previously, addressing Russia sending troops into Ukraine, Trump said that President Vladimir Putin would never have made the move if he’d been in office. He also called Putin “savvy” and “genius” for sending “peacekeeping forces” into Ukraine.
He was severely criticized for his comments then and has since expressed surprise at Putin’s actions. Biden, meanwhile, has pushed back against Moscow’s aggression in eastern Europe with the help of sanctions. While initial studies showed that Americans felt their president could have been tougher with Putin, Kremlin went on to acknowledge that US sanctions hurt the Russian economy.

Biden didn’t stop there, banning Russian oil imports as well, hurting Moscow, but driving up gas and fuel prices in the US as a result. However, he enjoys the support of Americans who are willing to pay more so Russia faces consequences for their actions.
